We met the amazing and wonderful Toman family, the owners of Alaska Mist Soaps. Right away, I could feel her energy, her love for God, and the respect she has for her business, especially in crafting natural body products and cold process soap. This overwhelming love led to a forever friendship and sisterhood in faith. After spending days in the ‘soap shop,’ I now appreciate the enthusiasm behind every bar of soap and jar of salve. I see firsthand the care and quality in each hand-crafted bar and jar.
We are a large, faith-driven family with deep agricultural roots, committed to integrity and hard work. We take pride in delivering quality products, including our cold process soap and other natural body products, to our customers.
What drove us to Alaska? In the late 1980s, my husband lived in Southeast Alaska while his father worked in the timber industry. About 5-6 years ago, we faced an opportunity for change that brought us back to Southeast Alaska, and together we've grown to appreciate its distinctiveness. Living off-grid presents challenges but also offers daily beauty, solitude, which reflects our values and lifestyle.
With retirement approaching, Randy and Crystal have decided to entrust Alaskan Mist Soaps to new hands. This marks the beginning of our own adventure—an opportunity to honor their legacy and dedication while expanding the business and exploring fresh ideas. We are eager to introduce new products, including our cold process soap and a range of natural body products, while continuing the tradition of quality and care that has defined Alaskan Mist Soaps.
Alaskan Mist Soaps is now tucked away near the top of Prince of Wales Island; it has found its new home, a place where tradition and innovation meet in the heart of the wilderness.
Alaskan Mist Soaps will recognize Thanksgiving and will be closed November 22-30.
